Biography


Laura Bell has recently completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) with First Class Honours at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying with Hans-Dieter Michatz. Throughout her time at the Conservatorium, Laura has been a grateful recipient of numerous grants and prizes including the Commonwealth Learning Scholarship, Joan and James McIIrath Armstrong Scholarship, the John Ellyard Memorial Scholarship, The Women’s College Music Scholarship, Margaret Henderson Donation Account Scholarship, Francis and Josephine Anderson Scholarship, Mary Patricia Bell Grant, Suzie Williams Prize and Basil and Muriel Hooper Memorial Scholarship.

She has been guest soloist for Penrith Symphony Orchestra performing Karl Jenkins’s Imagined Oceans, and was featured as part of the Pini, Hazelwood and Friends concert series playing Vivaldi. She is co-founder and performs regularly with Bellatrix Recorder Quartet, and regularly performs solo in and outside of Sydney. Currently she is on staff at St Andrew’s Cathedral School, as well as teaching recorder and violin at Methodist Ladies College, Nicholson Street Public School, Annandale Public School and Yeo Park Infants School. Her pedagogical interests lie in particular with the Orff and Kodaly methods, in both recorder and violin.
